Interview with Julia Dasic
What message(s) do you want to express through your work? This is a collection of photomontages representing a series of callipygous models, suspended, as in weightlessness. Far from today’s canons of beauty, they are odalisques with a “chubby ass”, without complex. But they are neither shut up nor submissive and are represented in a sometimes natural, sometimes surreal environment, free with their bodies.
Which artists inspire you? Who are your masters? While carrying out this collection, I was inspired a lot by the wonderful paintings of the painter Bosch, but also by the endless legs by the fetish photographer Pierre Molinier.
What have you gained by being on the internet?Exhibiting one’s gallery on the web is the opportunity to show a work in motion to the largest number. And thus to share with the small fraction of visitors who will be sensitive to my work.
Did the internet enable you to meet new models, to find new exhibit places? The models portrayed in my photomontages are most of the time friends and women I know. Others have drawn my attention after having seen them exposed in the gallery or, more rarely, on my site.
What projects mean a lot to you at the moment? To go on exploring femininity in all its aspects.
Could you tell us a few words about the place you live/work in?I live where I work and I work where I live.
