Corps de Rêve (Guillaume Louyot)

Big portraits of sometimes a bit mischievous models, often very glamorous and teasing at the same time, always very femmes, expressing a multi-faceted sensuousness, with sometimes also a story developing in the background, mysterious eyes talking about blood bath or fetish thoughts behind the visual codes of fashion.

Really like the content. I'm a girl or a woman or a thing it depends. I mean, I liked it. Punto. More to come ? Seem a bit oldie but goodie.

Interview with Guillaume Louyot

What message(s) do you want to express through your work?

It is often difficult, for many men and women, to know how to react to the intrigue of a new encounter. Is it the soul that seduces us, or just some physical aspects referring to good memories coming back? By photographing those women, I try to give some keys and sometimes to reopen doors to those questions. A naked body does not seduce me if it is showed without its soul.

Which artists inspire you? Who are your masters?

Roy Stuart has taught me a lot visually speaking, and for longer than I thought. I have discovered a short while ago that some of erotic artworks I am fond of since very young were made by him. I have found it out while documenting myself about him.
The movie aspect of some of my work comes from my passion for movies, like those sometimes “old-fashioned” Scorcese’s, and sometimes transcendental Lynch’s.

What have you gained by being on the internet?

I am on the internet since 1997, and I was hooked since the first days. I preferred to spend my savings in unbelievable phone bills to be able to share my point of view in term of picture and music. It has always given me a great satisfaction to be on-line, and still today, after more than ten years, I smile when I find some of my works shared or introduced like on this page that moved me.

Did the internet enable you to meet new models, to find new exhibit places?

I dream about showing my photographs, but I would like to build my archives and my experience for some more years to be in a position to reach a larger audience.
The internet enabled me to meet a lot of models and associates, often in a spontaneous way, and sometimes by positive replies to my wishes of common work.

Has your work ever been censored? If so, how did you deal with it?

Habits and customs are changing and getting more free, but some things do not change: the censorship is often unfortunately caused by one person only, when it is about choosing what is and what is not censurable. I have been censored, and I am still right now, like for instance on a major search engine. My “personal” site (in that sense of, whereas professional, I like to work alone for more emotional rigour with the model) dropped from 5,000 unique visitors per day to 1,000 only! But the faithful visitors remain and come back year after year, which is the most important. When I will go down to 10 visitors a day, I think I will laugh of having known to appreciate the past.

What projects mean a lot to you at the moment?

Some blows from some models have exhausted me, and I am recovering in visual search through directing, editing and compositing for television and movie-making.
The models waiting list gets longer and I try to strengthen my links with them through emails and phone calls, telling them their turn will come with all the joy it will give me, as soon as I will have the time.

Could you tell us a few words about the place you live/work in?

I work in Paris, around the Jonquière street in the XVIIth, which is getting back the appearance of a small town where life is good, and where the cultural melting-pot makes me richer each day.
