Interview with Tony Gibble

What message(s) do you want to express through your work?

Simply I want to express truth, beauty and taste in my work. Whether I am doing a fashion shoot or artist nudes, I always want my work to be tasteful. My hope is that the viewer finds it to be beautiful, thought provoking and that it exudes a sense of honesty in what I am portraying.

Which artists inspire you? Who are your masters?

There are so many people in the industry that I admire, both models and photographers. People like Ryan Diesel, Rick Day, Adam Bouska, Tony Chu, Michael Sutten, and Hasson Harris. All people that inspire and motivate me to work harder. I could go on and on… There are so many talented people!

What have you gained by being on the internet?

Well, exposure, haha. The internet has been great to me. It has created a great source of leads and work. It has been a great source of creative input and incredibly valuable critique. It can be a dangerous place. You can get into trouble if you are not careful. You have to be cautious and do your homework on who you are working with and talking to but it can be a great tool to help you grow and gain experience as a model. I also met the love of my life on a modeling site. Hahaha! So the internet has been GREAT to me!

Did the internet enable you to meet new photographers, to find new exhibit places?

Most definitely! I have networked most of my contacts and photographers from the net. I have gained so much work and so much experience from the internet. I have also built some great friendships. I plan to use the internet to continue to grow and expand my work!

Has your work ever been censored? If so, how did you deal with it?

Ummmm… Sort of. There have been a few model networking sites that do not allow nudes to be “public”. I have posted some implied nudes that rival that of many female implied nudes on the same sites and mine were removed. They would state mine violated their rules. In these cases there is not much I could do. There is a double standard when it come to male and female photography. Women can definitely get away with more than men usually can in my experience. All we can do is keep trying and push for change. The male form is ever bit as artist and beautiful as its female counterpart… Some people just need to learn that.

What projects mean a lot to you at the moment?

I am really working on some new things to launch my work. To make it more visible to more people. I am working on a lot of exciting projects with my boyfriend who is also a model. We have some great ideas that I think are going to be hot!

Could you tell us a few words about the place you live/work in?

I live in Lancaster, PA. Amish country. Hahaha! But there is so much more to this area than that. It may not be a HUGE city, but it’s my little New York! Hahaha!
