A lot of vigor and energy in those flat tints with light colors and hard lines, fabrics rendered very realistically and yet very soft, light silky out of focus that bring a touch of glamor and mystery in those eyes and faces waiting for who knows which prince come from beyond the horizon.

Interview with Joerg Warda
(Diese Interview ist auch auf Deutsch vorhanden)

What message(s) do you want to express through your work?

Not all my pictures try to convey a deeply seizing message, they rather express the joy of life and beauty.

Which artists inspire you? Who are your masters?

Many are the artists which I enjoy the work. I have been influenced in the past by Hajime Sorayama, Boris Vallejo and Olivia, but now masters like Rembrandt, Monet or van Gogh influence my work.

What have you gained by being on the internet?

The internet is for me one of the most exciting and alive places, even if that sounds paradoxical or strange to call place such a virtual construction as the internet. But there I meet friends, visit exhibitions or make purchases. The Web is for me an important component of my work and makes me possible to reach people all around the world.

Did the internet enable you to meet new models, to find new exhibit places?

No, I did unfortunately not find new models on the internet yet, maybe someone will announce herself through this interview, we never know. As the Web enables people to be in touch from everywhere, the possibilities for common projects and work can arise too, which I find very inspiring and exciting.

Has your work ever been censored? If so, how did you deal with it?

An incident happened once in an exhibition of artists against racism in which I was involved. My contribution had to be removed as a glorification of violence. The subject of it was a man who tried to get free of his skin and the title of the picture was The differences are always only superficial. It was when I was working with traditional airbrush painting. Nowadays, it happens that my pictures are adorned with black rectangles or stars to cover the nipples in magazine for the US market, because that cannot be shown in this country, and otherwise it should not be possible to sell the magazine freely. Such a thing is fortunately yet unknown in Europe. I think that censorship in every form is somewhat bad and that everybody should have a fundamental right to access an uncensored information and media.

What projects mean a lot to you at the moment?

Momentarily, I am taking care of my series “Mysterious painting”. I still have new ideas for the future, but I would like to not betray them now. However, you can visit my web site to see my past work.

Could you tell us a few words about the place you live/work in?

I live in Berlin, a very beautiful and alive city in Germany with many cafés and interesting exhibitions. The city changes constantly with new buildings, architecture, music and art. In Berlin one meets new trends and innovative ideas. The people is always in movement and the city is always an inspiration for my work.
