Yves Anane

Abstraction of the shape to only keep of it a pure and willowy line with a strong dynamic, impetus of the body in a spiral of desire with sharp angles and fined down curves of an ineffable tenderness, like a silhouette with absolute lightness made of bronze, glass or plaster, evolution of the object from the sketch to the final version, gracious curves that inhabit other media, as Indian ink or etching for as strong an emotion.

Interview with Yves Anane

What message(s) do you want to express through your work?

I wish to convey through my work that energy, that emotion that moves me and always drives me at their creation. By the way, I advise the visitors of my exhibitions to touch my sculptures with their eyes shut: the result is always grandiose, which means that the energies are still there and active.

Which artists inspire you?, who are your masters?

My first inspiration is the nude female body, its curves, its lines, that light… I do like Brancusi, Harp and some others, but I am not inspired by them.

What have you gained by being on the internet?

From the launch of my site, it was an international revelation. A virtual gallery is a wonderful business card.

Did the internet enable you to meet new models, to find new exhibit places?

I am searching for new models, the eye-catching ones, those who give me feelings at first glance. It has also enabled me to be invited to exhibit in new places and this is great.

What projects mean a lot to you at the moment?

A new project of drawings/etchings on the theme Tactile memories, following up Emotions on paper in drawings. Most quick and sharp lines to convey on paper the feelings aroused by touching a woman’s body, the light touch of a sex, the silk of the pubis…

Could you tell us a few words about the place you live/work in?

I have several studios in Israel, due to my diversity. I have a big high-ceiled sculpture workshop where I am currently working on a monumental sculpture order. I also have an etching and printing studio, but mainly a little studio in Paris where I like to draw, and where inspiration is always present.
